Level One: Introduction to Adult Safeguarding:
This session is for those in non-leadership roles and covers the following:
- Legal and policy context of Adult Safeguarding
- What is meant by Adult Safeguarding?
- Diocesan Safeguarding Structures
- Role of the Diocesan Adult Safeguarding Champion
- Awareness of adult abuse issues
- Procedures for reporting concerns
- Code of conduct for staff/volunteers working with adults
Safeguarding Adults Training for Leaders
Level 2: Leaders and Coordinators of Groups:
This training is for clergy and volunteers who have regular and or direct contact with adults – coordinating/organising adult activities (e.g. SPRED Leaders, Luncheon Club Leaders, visitation team Leader, Leaders of Eucharistic Ministers). This training will cover the following:
- Legal and policy context
- Values and principles
- Key definitions
- Categories of abuse and possible indicators
- Procedures for reporting concerns
- Code of behaviour
- Planning and managing activities.
- Risk management
- Confidentiality issues
- Creating a person – centred environment
