Child criminal exploitation is a form of child abuse that can cause serious and lasting harm to children and young people. It is often hidden, misunderstood, or misidentified, particularly where children and young people appear to be involved in criminal activity.
This guidance is designed to support a consistent, child-centred safeguarding response across Northern Ireland and will be formally incorporated into Cooperating to Safeguard Children and Young People in Northern Ireland.
Safeguarding children and young people remains a shared priority across all agencies, and this guidance is intended to support a consistent and effective response to concerns relating to child criminal exploitation.
It provides practitioners and agencies with a clear framework to support the identification, assessment, and response to such concerns, strengthening both understanding and practice across organisations
The Guidance can be accessed via the SBNI website- CHILD CRIMINAL EXPLOITATION (CCE)
